To the constituents of the San Antonio River Authority:
The San Antonio River Authority has been closely monitoring updates and recommendations regarding the COVID-19 virus from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), City of San Antonio Metro Health, Bexar County, and the State of Texas. Out of an abundance of caution following recent CDC recommendations and guidance, the San Antonio River Authority (River Authority) is directing staff to work remotely and self-quarantine through April 5, 2020. Additionally, the River Authority has cancelled public and community meetings and events through May 10, 2020, also per CDC guidance. The health, safety, and well-being of our constituents and staff is of paramount importance.
We appreciate your trust, and we are committed to the public services we provide to the communities of the San Antonio River Basin. During this time, the San Pedro Creek Culture Park, as well as other River Authority parks and trails, will remain open and staff will continue to provide the necessary services to keep our parks and trails safe, clean, and enjoyable. However, to limit the travel of our scientific staff and maximize self-quarantine procedures per the CDC guidance, the River Authority is ceasing the water quality testing it normally conducts at the Plaza de Fundación. As a result, we have decided to keep the water off at the Plaza de Fundación. We will, as quickly and safely as feasible, restore water quality monitoring and water flow to this important feature of the San Pedro Creek Culture Park.
We will continue to monitor public health recommendations and make additional decisions and announcements as necessary. Please continue to follow us via our social media channels and visit our website for updates.
